Welcome to Math II
Goal:
To provide various essential mathematical concepts and numerical
techniques for solving equations.
Important things should be known after studying this course:
* Familiarize Round-Off errors
and computer Arithmetic
* Solve nonlinear equations using
numerical methods (Bisection methods, fixed point methods, Newton ’s method)
* Identify Zeros of polynomial
equations and evaluate the polynomial by Horner’s method.
* Apply the iterated interpolation
techniques.
* Construct Taylor and Lagrange
polynomials.
* Describe methods for
determining the explicit representations of an interpolating polynomial
form tabulated Data (Divided-Difference methods).
* Apply the methods of numerical
differentiation and using formulas (forward-difference and backward
formulas.
*Apply the methods of numerical
integration (composite rules).
* Illustrate some algebraic
operations on matrices, including addition, scalar multiplication, product
and inversion.
* Calculate the determinant for
matrices of dimension 2 and 3.
* Make use of matrices to
solve linear system of equations and to find the inverse of matrix.
