Welcome to Probability and Statistics
Goal:
To provide the students with basic
Knowledge of Probability& Statistics along with practical applications to
physical and engineering problems.
Important things should be known after studying this course:
* Demonstrate the knowledge of the
role statistics in engineering applications.
* Determine the descriptive
measures (mean, median, variance..etc)of random variables and collected data.
* Accurately estimate population
characteristics from small sample groups.
* Evaluate sample data to determine
if the process interventions truly effective or to compare various system
options before making final decisions.
* Recognize types of data and
describe the data using tabular, graphical and numerical representation.
* Utilize the predictive power of
probability distributions to project process performance in advance.
* Graphically represent discrete
and continuous random variables with probability distribution function
according to their use in random processes.
Integrate knowledge of Normal ,
Binomial,Poisson, Exponential and Weibull
distributions in a coherent and meaningful manner to engineering processes.
* Demonstrate knowledge of the
fundamental concepts of reliability and its formula.
* Apply reliability concepts
through Exponential and Weibul distributions for life time expectations of
engineering products.
* Solve correlation and regression
problems
* Apply numerical analysis
to the solution of linear, nonlinear and Laplace equatio
* Utilize statistical analysis
software.
